COCHINEALA: NATURE AND ART SERIES AT CONFLUENCE PARK

Music by Volcán, Art, & Science Under the Stars

What: Join the San Antonio River Foundation and San Antonio Parks Foundation under the concrete petals of Confluence Park for Cochineala, a new quarterly performance series blending nature and the arts. Inspired by the cochineal, a small insect that lives on prickly pear cacti, this series utilizes art as a medium for exploring scientific endeavors, all through the creative lens of local artists and musicians. Cochineala is art, nature, and science, coming together in a whirl of movement, music, and color.

We are excited to kick off this FREE community series on April 24 from 6:00-10:00 PM. Activities from 6-8 PM including screen printing, cochineal painting with Yanawana Herbolarios, a Seed Exchange by SanArte Healing & Cultura Clinic, and a Kite Building Workshop by the San Antonio River Foundation “Make Something” Committee. At 8 PM, enjoy a “Science Under the Stars” outdoor lecture courtesy of UT Austin followed by a live performance by Indie Orquesta Latino band Volcán! Food and refreshments will be available for purchase during the event.

This event is FREE and open to the public! Limited seating is available. Social distancing and masks are encouraged.
