For Breydon Cox, graduating from high school is only the beginning of an exciting new chapter.
The recent Fine Arts Academy graduate has been accepted to Palo Alto College, where he plans to continue his education in welding. As the first person in his family to attend college, Breydon’s achievement is a milestone that reflects years of hard work, perseverance, and dedication.
To help pay for books and other college expenses, Breydon is spending his summer offering pressure washing services throughout the community. Every job he takes on brings him one step closer to reaching his educational goals.
Breydon’s story began long before graduation day. Raised by a single teen mother alongside his younger brother, he learned the value of hard work at an early age. While his mother worked, his grandparents helped care for him and his brother. As a child, he often helped his grandparents collect scrap metal, sometimes even bringing pieces home on his way back from elementary school. At the time, he may not have realized those lessons were preparing him for the future.
As the oldest sibling, Breydon also became a steady source of support for his family. He helped care for his autistic brother and was known as the peacemaker and protector among his siblings. Family members describe him as patient, mature beyond his years, and always willing to help others.
Throughout his school years, Breydon earned a reputation as an exceptional student. Teachers and staff consistently praised his character, work ethic, and willingness to volunteer at school events. Whether helping at home or in the classroom, he approached every responsibility with determination and a positive attitude.
When the opportunity arose to further his education, Breydon chose to attend the Fine Arts Academy within the Edgewood Independent School District, where he focused on welding. He dedicated himself to the program, working tirelessly over four years to earn his certification. His family was both proud and surprised when he announced that he would continue his education at Palo Alto College.
Now, as he prepares for the fall semester, Breydon is focused on earning money to cover the cost of books, supplies, and other college expenses. His family says they could not be more proud of everything he has accomplished and the young man he has become.
