Price Elementary School in the South San Antonio Independent School District (SSAISD) was recognized with a prestigious national honor, earning the School of Promise Award from the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching (NIET). The campus was one of only two schools nationwide to receive this distinction, highlighting its strong progress in elevating teaching practices and accelerating student achievement.
The recognition reflected the school’s commitment to investing in educators and creating meaningful outcomes for students. As part of the award, Price Elementary also received a $5,000 grant to support continued improvement efforts and strengthen its academic programs.
The celebration took place on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Price Elementary, located at 245 Price Avenue in San Antonio. The event brought together SSAISD leadership, students, teachers, and community members to honor the campus’s achievement. Local leaders, including Councilman Edward Mungia and Commissioner Rebeca Clay-Flores, joined the ceremony, along with NIET representatives and invited guests.
The program included welcome remarks, special guest speakers, the official award presentation, and a brief video recognizing the school’s journey and impact. The moment served as both a celebration and a reflection of the dedication shown by educators and staff who continue to push for excellence in the classroom.

For more than two decades, NIET has worked with schools, districts, and universities nationwide to strengthen educator effectiveness and improve student outcomes. Through initiatives focused on teacher and leader development, school improvement, and instructional support systems, the organization has impacted hundreds of thousands of educators and millions of students across the United States.
Price Elementary’s recognition marked a significant moment not only for the campus but for the South San Antonio community, demonstrating what is possible when schools prioritize both teaching quality and student success.
