Celebrating Modern Dance: 100 Years of a Modern Dance Icon!

Saturday, November 7, 2026 | Free Event

Join us for a day celebrating the legacy and lasting influence of Martha Graham, one of the most influential figures in modern dance history.

Through movement, film, artistic presentations, and community dialogue, this event invites dancers, artists, students, and the general public to explore Graham’s contributions to modern dance and reflect on how her artistic innovations continue to inspire contemporary creative practices.

The celebration begins with a Graham-based introductory movement class, followed by screenings of Errand Into the Maze, Lamentation, and Night Journey. The afternoon features presentations and an artist panel with Britt Lorraine, Juan P. Roblesgil, Violeta De Leon, and Seme Jatib, creating space for conversations about dance, its relationship to other art forms, and how San Antonio’s artistic community embraces and transforms these practices.

Hosted by Amber Ortega, with guest artist Pamela Martinez, the event welcomes participants of all backgrounds and levels of dance experience. Whether you are a dancer, an artist, or simply curious about modern dance, we invite you to move, watch, reflect, and join the conversation.
